Two-step verification (2FA)
Owners and their teams protect their accounts with an authenticator app. How to set it up and what to do if you lose your phone.
Owner accounts hold renters’ personal information, so everyone on an owner team must use two-step verification. After setup, PropFit asks you to Protect your account. It takes about 2 minutes. Until you do, owner pages other than welcome, setup, invitations and the demo send you there.
Renters aren’t required to use it.
Set it up
- Install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.
- Scan the QR code with the app.
- Enter the code the app shows.
- Save your backup codes: download them or write them down somewhere safe, then choose I saved my backup codes.
From then on, PropFit asks for a code from your app when you sign in on a new device.
Passkeys
A passkey signs you in faster, but it doesn’t replace the authenticator code. Keep your authenticator app set up.
Signing out after inactivity
PropFit signs you out after 1 hour without any activity, so an account left open on a shared or unattended computer can’t be used by someone else.
- Two minutes before, PropFit asks Are you still there? Choose Stay signed in to carry on, or Sign out.
- Activity in any PropFit tab counts, so working in one tab keeps the others signed in too.
- If you’re signed out, sign in again and PropFit takes you back to the page you were on. Anything you hadn’t saved on that page is lost, so save as you go.
This applies to owners and renters alike.
If you lose your phone
Sign in with one of your backup codes, then set up the app again under Manage account → Security.
If you have no backup codes, send us a message. PropFit support confirms it’s you and approves a reset; you then set up your new authenticator.
