Publish a vacancy
Add rent, terms, fees and photos, check the readiness list, publish, and pause or withdraw later.
A vacancy is a unit you’re offering for lease, with its rent, terms and criteria. It stays a draft until you publish it.
Create a vacancy
- Go to Vacancies, or open a unit under Properties, and start a new vacancy.
- Enter the monthly rent and the date it’s available, then choose Create vacancy.
Each unit can have one open vacancy at a time.
Price and terms
On the vacancy page, fill in:
- monthly rent, security deposit and application fee
- available date, lease lengths, pets, smoking and the utilities included in rent
- Mandatory fees: list every required charge, monthly or at move-in, so renters see the real cost
- a description (you can Draft with AI; a fair-housing check must pass before you can use the draft)
- photos, each with a short description for people using screen readers; the first photo leads the listing
The panel beside the form shows What renters will see, including the estimated move-in cost. PropFit shows the application fee but never collects it: if you charge one, you collect it directly.
Ready to publish?
The Ready to publish? card lists what’s needed:
- Required: organization verified, rent and lease lengths, qualification criteria.
- Makes your listing stronger: at least one photo, and a description of a sentence or two.
When everything required is done, choose Publish. If the button is off, the line under it tells you why. Your first publish creates a link you can share right away: see Share links and QR codes.
Pause, withdraw or mark leased
- Pause hides the listing from renters. Rent and terms are locked while a vacancy is live, so pause it to change them, then Put back on the market.
- Withdraw takes the vacancy off the market for good.
- Mark leased records who leased it. See Record a lease.
- View as a renter shows the public page.
If PropFit pauses your listing
PropFit may pause or take down a listing that looks wrong, for example a price that doesn’t match its terms, fees that aren’t disclosed, wording that raises fair-housing concerns, or a duplicate. The vacancy page tells you why. You can still edit it, then contact PropFit support to ask for a review. A paused listing comes back once PropFit releases it; a taken-down listing can’t be published again.
